Gregory J 53 Backpack

After being carried around four continents over the last ten years, my beloved Victorinox pack is ready to be retired soon. It’s had a good run, but this most recent year of full-time travel has stressed a seam or two. While I am devoted to the backpack-to-duffle pack style, I know that it’s only perfect for “travel backpacking”, not “hiking backpacking”. And I like to do both. As I think about my next pack purchase, I’d like to find something that could fit both activities.

After tons of research and trying packs on in the store, this is the one I’ve landed on. It’s got all the best features for packing gear on multi-day hikes, but it also has a U-shaped zip that opens up your whole main compartment. For me, that’s essential in a travel pack! It comes in a variety of colors, but I love the grey because it’s less obtrusive as a travel pack, but it also covers dirt well when you have it out in the wild. Can’t wait to get my hands on the J53!

*If you’re solely looking for a good travel pack, I still stand by and highly recommend the Deuter backpack-to-duffle that’s also in our shop.
